Drivers Validity Sensor (VFS471) for Windows 10 64-bit

I am running Windows 10 64-bit on the HP ProBook 6460b. I followed instructions to install a different driver for the VFS471 fingerprint scanner. As soon as I did, windows hello immediately started working. Note, I did not have to uninstall the old driver or remove the device from Device Manager. Simply performed "update new driver" and directed Windows to the "wbf_vfs_003c.inf" file. Worked like a charm. See the last post on the link below:

I have the HP Probook 4230s with this fingerprint sensor and am moving away from Windows 10 to Ubuntu. I have the same issue. No drivers available. I found 32-bit .rpm drivers from HP site. But it wont work on Ubuntu 16.04 64bit even after converting it with alien.

The output should include one line identifying the fingerprint reader. For example, if the fingerprint reader is the VFS471 from Validity Sensors, Inc., the output might be:sudo chmod +x /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/40-validity_sensor.rulessudo cp /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/40-validity_sensor.rules /etc/udev/rules.dsudo udevadm trigger Drivers Validity Sensor (VFS471) for Windows 10 64-bit Now you'll need to restart your system. After rebooting, you'll want to open your laptop and verify that Ubuntu's.rules files are getting loaded for your fingerprint reader. If they are not, then you'll need to follow the procedure for modifying the udev rules.I have an OLD Fujitsu-Siemens Primo laptop with a fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint reader I have is a Type A reader (USBC114), which is an HP ID7990x-A036. The reader works fine on Windows 10 and older versions of Linux. However, the newest version of Ubuntu (19.04 and higher) will not enable the reader. I have checked the "Fingerprint Indicators" in System Settings and disabled it (to include this reader), but it still has no effect. It doesn't appear to be disabled at all. Has anyone else run into this problem? For 64-bit Windows 10, the process of installing a 64-bit device driver is a bit different from Windows 7. If you have a 32-bit architecture, you can install the 64-bit drivers through Device Manager's Add/Remove Hardware tool. The new drivers will then appear in Device Manager. If you're using a 64-bit architecture, you need to use another tool called Device Manager. Start by opening up Device Manager by clicking Start, then select Device Manager from the Search programs and files listing. When you're in Device Manager, you'll notice there is a drivers tab. Look for the HP VFS471 device in the list of hardware devices, and click on the link beneath the driver's name to install the driver. c8b82c0f98
